Why do people think successful businesses need to borrow money to keep running?

Excuse me, but a business that has to borrow money to keep in business is a business that is doomed to fail, borrowing money just prolongs the agony and will lead to bankruptcy, leaving the people who made the loans in the cold and out of their money.

Wall Street is no exception.
If you loan money to a deadbeat bum, you can expect to never get your money back.

Borrowing money enables the government to spend more in the present without having to make up the differance until years later. Why do you think that for many years poloticians found it easier to borrow money than to cut the deficit?

I know that our national debt keeps increasing due to interest and continuing to borrow money. But HOW does the government borrow the money. How does the US negotiate with other countries to ask for money? Best answer gets easy 10 points. Be descriptive and informational. Thanks

Democrats AND Republicans have supported giving money to many countries while having to borrow money from other countries to pay for the Iraq war and other wars.
Is there something I do not understand?

Today’s news is that Massachusetts wants to borrow money from the federal government in order to pay their bills. What happened? I thought the governor, Mitt Romney, was known for his fiscal acumen. Maybe he’s not the governor any more. If he is not the current governor of Massachusetts, maybe they ought to invite him back.
