I know that our national debt keeps increasing due to interest and continuing to borrow money. But HOW does the government borrow the money. How does the US negotiate with other countries to ask for money? Best answer gets easy 10 points. Be descriptive and informational. Thanks

China owns us. Anything else you need for your homework (I am assuming here), you’ll have to research for yourself, sorry

We send treasury bonds to the Federal Reserve in exchange they print money out of thin air and give it to us. Sometimes we sell those treasury bonds to other countries in exchange for a loan.

They auction off T-bills – the promissory notes issued by the U.S. These represent our promise to re-pay.

They borrow money from more productive nations. America owes china a lot and we just keep “borrowing”

They sell Bonds and Treasury Notes. Anybody can buy bonds, these are sold at a set interest rate and payable upon maturity. So anyone who buys them is loaning money to the US Government.
Treasury Notes are sold on the open market and purchased by large investors that want a secure investment at a set rate of return. They are even purchased by foreign governments.
